LEAP® Scheme
Laboratory Environmental Analysis Proficiency Scheme
Proficiency Testing for water and environmental laboratories. There are five programmes available under the LEAP scheme offering:
- Potable Water Chemistry - for analysis of inorganics, metals and organics
- Potable Water Microbiology - for analysis of indicator organisms e.g. total coliforms, enterococci, organism ID and legionella
- Potable Water Parasitology - Cryptosporidium and Giardia supplied as phosphate buffered saline suspensions and a spiked Genera Technologies Filta-Max™
- Effluent, Waste Water and Contaminated Land - for analysis of inorganics, metals and organics in water and metals in soil
- Emergency Contingency Scheme - aimed at testing the capabilities of a laboratory to analyse a completely unknown chemically contaminated potable water sample on an emergency short-term rapid screening basis by identifying the toxic chemical contaminant(s) in a real potable water sample. A sample for analysis of gross alpha and gross beta radioactivity only is also supplied
- Potable Water Chemistry Taste & Odour Chemicals - aimed at testing the capabilities of a laboratory to analyse a chemically contaminated potable water sample for completely unknown compound(s) that may produce a taste or odour
