Test Description

Within this quality control material, your testing ability for a range of aflatoxins within Ginger can be evaluated. An aflatoxin is a potent carcinogen produced by the Aspergillus flavous and Aspergillus parasiticus moulds which commonly grow and can be found in corn, which can subsequently enter into animal feed.

Mycotoxins are toxic secondary metabolites produced by fungi on agricultural commodities in the field or during storage.  It is estimated at 25% of the world's food crops are affected, resulting in large commercial losses. Mycotoxins can cause serious health problems, including some being suspected carcinogens, and so are tightly regulated across the world. Mycotoxin contamination is the largest cause of rapid alerts raised against imported food products.  Fapas has introduced multi-mycotoxin proficiency tests as well as those for emerging mycotoxins.

Ginger is a well-known spice used across a range of foodstuffs, it is sold in large quantities globally within prepared foods and as a standalone product in various forms. As a result of this extensive demand, Complex global supply chains are under pressure to maintain ginger supply. This can result in low-quality produce being passed to the consumer, in an effort to reduce waste and meet demand. As a result, your testing ability is required to protect customers from low quality produce, and provide the information required to meet regulatory standards.

To be sure of your effective testing practices, well-designed quality assurance programmes must be introduced. Fapas quality control materials can form an important way to track the incremental improvements made as part of your long term quality assurance solutions used to maintain the high quality testing service offered to your customers. Fapas quality control materials utilise real food samples to provide immediate insights into your testing process, allowing you to standardise your testing practices to achieve credible, repeatable test results.
