Test Description

This Quality Control (QC) material is ideal for ensuring ongoing testing accuracy within your current testing arrangement by allowing you to look in detail at your testing ability for Bt11 (Quantitative) and TC1507 (Quantitative) events in maize flour.

Valuable insights can be gained through the sustained use of Fapas quality control materials within your ongoing quality assurance activities. Fapas quality control materials can be used as in independent assessment to ensure the validity of your analysis, through individual batch analysis methods or over the longer term through a consistent monitoring programme.

The presence of Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs) in foods remains a major issue for many consumers around the world. As such regulatory bodies take a real interest in the use of GMOs within produce. The European Union (EU) regulations have been designed to ensure that a consumers’ right to choose what they eat can be based on ingredients lists that show whether an ingredient containing GMOs, or an ingredient produced from GMOs are labelled as such. These labelling claims must be well founded and supported by accurate testing methods.

This EU legislation does however permit a certain amount of adventitious contamination of identity preserved (IP), non-GM, ingredients, a threshold of 0.9% of the ingredient applies for the accidental presence of approved GM material below which labelling of food or feed is not required.  Where a GMO is pending authorisation or for those where the authorisation has expired, this threshold drops to 0.1%. However there is no threshold for the presence of GM material that has not been approved for use in the EU.  These low thresholds put increased pressure on testing laboratories to ensure their results are fit for purpose and highlight significant levels of GM material in your test materials. Fapas quality control materials provide a useful ongoing resource from which to provide your customers, and regulators of your accurate testing ability.

Fapas quality control materials make use of real food test materials from which to ensure only effective, relevant areas of improvement are highlighted and tracked within your ongoing quality assurance activities. Fapas quality control materials should be used in conjunction with ongoing proficiency testing activities, to ensure your testing ability meets international testing standards.
