Test Description

Coffee is a valuable commodity traded on a global basis, and caffeine is one of the key reasons for many consumers to choose this beverage, due to its stimulant properties. However, there is a growing number of consumers who are rejecting caffeine on the basis of general health concerns or sensitivity, who are looking to consume decaffeinated products. Some territories control the level of caffeine permitted before allowing a coffee to be sold as ‘decaffeinated’ so accurate measurement of the caffeine content is required. Another reason for measuring the caffeine level in coffee beans is the different levels of caffeine in the main types of coffee. Robusta is seen as the lower quality product, and contains roughly double the caffeine in the higher quality and thus more expensive Arabica beans. Accurate measurement of the caffeine level can therefore help to distinguish the two kinds of bean.

Fapas proficiency testing measures are invaluable for ensuring only high-quality test results are offered to your customers and regulators alike. This can be achieved through the use of challenging test materials, which are enabled due to the real food matrices Fapas utilise. These challenging test materials can ensure effective areas of improvement are highlighted, with areas of importance available to ensure test results are detailed and accurate enough to satisfy your customers.
