Test Description

The EU Food Information for Consumers Regulation No.1169/2011 lists 14 food allergens that must always be labelled in pre-packed and non-prepacked foods.  Celery and Mustard are two of the allergens in this list and are found in many products.  This test is for qualitative and/or quantitative results.

Celery is a well-known ingredient in many recipes, and is also used in a range of forms across a wide variety of foodstuffs. This wide range of uses within processed foodstuffs, requires accurate testing measures to satisfy regulators of correct labelling requirements, as well as reducing the risk of accidental contamination.

Mustard incurs similar regulation, as a result of the wide range of uses it also enjoys within processed foodstuffs. As a result of the increased need for accurate testing capabilities across a long time frame Fapas proficiency tests can be invaluable for providing a complete benchmark of your testing abilities. From which to address any areas of weakness within your testing set up.

Fapas proficiency test materials are made up of real food samples, and as such can result in a direct comparison of your testing ability. This allows you to pass testing improvements to your clients quickly to ensure high quality testing year round.

This proficiency test can be used with quality control materials, to standardise your testing process both in terms of staffing and instrumentation. This can result in repeatable, credibly results across a range of testing environments.

It is important that consumers with food allergies or intolerances are able to make informed choices when choosing products; by taking part in this test you are ensuring an independent verification of your testing procedures to comply with regulation.
