Test Description

The EU Food Information for Consumers Regulation No.1169/2011 lists 14 food allergens that must always be labelled in pre-packed and non-prepacked foods. Egg is one of the allergens in this list and is found in many products.

Gluten, Egg and Milk make up many of the main components of cake mixes. As substitutes continue to increase in popularity, the importance to prevent cross-contamination between those with and without potential allergens is of growing importance.

Cake mix offers a great matrix to validate your detection and quantification capabilities due to the challenging nature of the foodstuff, being a mix of various core ingredients from which contamination can easily occur.

Quality control materials are the perfect way to track your progress against a control. Utilising this as a quality control material can give an ideal platform from which to compare results across a range of operating conditions to track your changes over time. All with the goal of a long-term improved testing ability.

Fapas quality control materials can be used to validate whether a testing instrument or process is operating within pre-defined specifications. This validation process makes sure your test results are as close to the true value as possible, and therefore your testing process is as credible as it can be.

It is important that consumers with food allergies or intolerances are able to make informed choices when choosing products; by using this QC material you are ensuring an independent verification of your testing procedures to comply with regulations.  Assigned values are grouped according to the brand of ELISA kit used. Thus limited data may preclude assessment of uncommon ELISA kits.
