Test Description

Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) are a group of synthetic chemicals that have been manufactured and used in a variety of industries around the globe. These chemicals are very persistent in the environment – meaning they don’t break down and can accumulate over time. Furthermore, there is also evidence that exposure to PFAS can lead to adverse human health effects. It is therefore important that accurate measurement of these chemical is carried out to minise the risk to consumer health.

Eggs are a cheap, plentiful supply of protein and fats and as such are consumed in huge quantities - more than 1 trillion per year, and so ensuring harmful environmental pollutants are absent or below permitted levels relies on monitoring, which in turn relies on accurate measurement.

As part of Fapas proficiency tests our food chemistry proficiency test samples combine the test analytes into real food matrices to fully represent real-world samples. This allows direct comparisons to be made between your proficiency testing results and your current routine testing arrangement. Through this, timely improvements can be highlighted, from which to ensure high quality testing is offered to your customers which satisfies regulatory controls.
