Test Description
Nuts are a valuable source of proteins, monounsaturated fats, fibre and vitamins due to their unique nutrient profiles. Several health benefits are related to the consumption of nuts and seeds, but these nutritional properties provide good conditions for the survival of microorganisms during processing. Whilst the nuts themselves are inherently stable, they may become contaminated during wet periods in the season, and production can involve storage in large bulk quantities, where it can be challenging to control the level of moisture. If the right conditions occur, moulds may grow causing damage to the product and the risk of mycotoxin production.
This product is suitable to benchmark your routine laboratory performance as well as to verify your standardised method or to validate a new laboratory method.
This product is for quantitative analysis only, and FAPAS will accept results only reported in the right units (cfu/g). Identification of the Moulds is not required.
Unlike some providers, this material will contain background flora as well as the target organisms, in order to provide a realistic challenge to the laboratory.
