Test Description

The EU Food Information for Consumers Regulation No.1169/2011 lists 14 food allergens that must always be labelled in pre-packed and non-prepacked foods.  Hazelnut is a tree nut and is one of the allergens in this list and is found in many products.

Nuts, and by extension Hazelnuts, are well known allergens across the globe. As such regulatory interest challenges labs to provide effective testing across a range of analyte/matrix combinations.

Hazelnuts supply a large amount of essential nutrients when consumed. As a result their inclusion within foodstuffs can provide an integral USP for manufacturers. Notable examples include Chocolate and Hazelnut spreads and hazelnut pralines.

To achieve accurate testing for this crucial allergen proficiency testing can be used to highlight areas of testing weakness, and therefore opportunities for improvement. Through Fapas real food test materials your proficiency test results can be immediately comparable to your routine analysis, and as such important improvements can be passed directly to the customer.

It is important that consumers with food allergies or intolerances are able to make informed choices when choosing products; by taking part in this test you are ensuring an independent verification of your testing procedures to comply with regulation.  Results will be grouped and assessed according to the brand of ELISA kit used.  Thus limited data may preclude assessment of small categories.
