Test Description

The EU Food Information for Consumers Regulation No.1169/2011 lists 14 food allergens that must always be labelled in pre-packed and non-prepacked foods.  Peanut is one of the allergens in this list and is found in many products, this test shows the issues of peanut adulteration in other powdered commodities.

Peanuts are a well-known allergens ad as such incur large amount of public interest if not labelled on foodstuffs correctly, as this can lead to potentially harmful allergic reactions. To mitigate this risk, effective quality control measures should be used to ensure high quality testing that is able to cope with the challenges presented within routine testing activities.

Proficiency testing can form the benchmark of these quality control procedures, informing areas of improvement within your testing set up as well as showing any testing bias you may unknowingly have within your test results.

Fapas utilise real food matrices within this proficiency test. This provides directly comparable results in an as true to life test as possible. By achieving these comparable results you can implement wide ranging and critical improvements to your testing ability quickly and with clarity, therefore passing on high quality testing standards to your customers.

It is important that consumers with food allergies or intolerances are able to make informed choices when choosing products; by taking part in this test you are ensuring an independent verification of your testing procedures to comply with regulation.  Results will be grouped and assessed according to the brand of ELISA kit used.  Thus limited data may preclude assessment of small categories.
