Test Description

Pesticide Residues are used extensively across a range of crops, including hemp, newly approved for human consumption. These are used with the goal of maintaining high-quality produce by controlling disease and pest impacts on crops. Through good farming practises levels of pesticide residues are usually low and under safe levels. Yet as farmers come under increasing pressure to satisfy growing demand for exotic products in global trade, poor farming practices may increase levels of pesticide residues exposed to consumers. This must be controlled using effective quality control measures.

Food products containing CBD are now widely available in many countries, with approvals being granted for human consumption.  The CBD component is purported to be health-giving, without the psychoactive THC component which is still a controlled substance.  The CBD is most often added to novel food products in the form of a purified CBD oil.  The purity and level of the CBD may be questioned, however, which is analytical testing has increased markedly in recent months.  Approvals processes for CBD novel foods will require evidence of competence of the analytical testing, including contaminants such as pesticide residues.

Most countries now have an extensive monitoring scheme for pesticide residues written into their legislation. There are more than 1000 compounds used worldwide as pesticides or plant protection products. When used properly, according to good agricultural practice, any residues can be expected to be below maximum residue limits. The Fapas pesticide residues proficiency tests are based on the EU monitoring list and associated MRLs but are widely applicable to most geographic areas. We also base our statistical data analysis in keeping with quality assurance guidelines as laid out in EC SANTE/12682/2019.

This blank material is ideal to ensure effective calibration curves are created. This can ensure only high quality test results are found. Blank materials from Fapas are ideal for ensuring matrix matching takes place. By using blank materials as close to positive test samples as possible the matrix effect is dramatically reduced.

Blank materials from Fapas make use of real food matrices to provide the key insights into your routine testing abilities you require. These can be used to maintain the level of accuracy required to satisfy both your customers and regulators of your testing capabilities.

Quality control materials can be utilised to track the improvements made within your quality assurance activities. This is in addition to the effective standardisation work that can be done with Fapas quality control materials, where credible, reliable test results can be obtained.
