Test Description

There is a growing concern regarding the levels of pharmaceutically active chemicals entering the natural environment and the effect that these may have on the biodiversity of our natural water courses.

Sewage treatment is carried out mainly to reduce the microbial content and to ensure the chemical and biological oxygen demand is such that does not damage the plant and animal life in rivers and streams. However, even if this is achieved (and more frequent release of raw sewage seems to be occurring) active pharmaceutical compounds such as antibiotics, will still be present and can damage the natural environment

This test material provides a spiking concentrate with a range of commonly detected pharmacuetical contaminants to help demonstrate your laboratory's ability to detect and identify these chemicals

Proficiency Testing is a fundamental part of a laboratories quality assurance procedures, and is the only independent way of validating a laboratories analytical results. Participation in Fapas proficiency tests can help laboratories to achieve and maintain accreditation to ISO/IEC 17025.
