Test Description

Animal products for human consumption are tightly legislated and closely monitored for compliance. This is because veterinary medicines used in animals are likely to have similar pharmacological effects in humans. Hence, for many veterinary medicines there are extremely low maximum residue limits (MRL), or even no limit, with any detection classed as non-compliant. This puts a large emphasis on the accuracy of testing laboratories across a range of matrices when detecting these potential contaminants.

The Fapas proficiency testing (PT) materials are produced in keeping with EU MRLs or minimum required performance limit (MRPL) where MRLs are not set. The result reporting requirements are also in keeping with quality control guidelines laid out in EC/657/2002. Fapas veterinary medicine PT materials include incurred residues as well as fortified animal products. As such Fapas proficiency tests are suitable for all methods, including screening, and are grouped in analytical chemical class/matrix combinations and combine identification and quantification.

Corned Beef can offer a challenging test for labs due to the added ingredients within corned beef recipes from manufacturers, which labs may not be exposed to without Fapas' commitment to real food matrices to provide as close to real life proficiency tests.

The shortened timescale to record results offered within this test  further challenges your laboratories in a close to real-world environment. Allowing you to benchmark your performance as well as evaluate the flexibility of your laboratory, which in an increasingly competitive market can become a deciding factor for potential customers.
