Test Description

Fats within infant formula are integral for infant development, and as such should be tested to validate any claims made by manufacturers, as well as highlighting any poor quality products that may be passed to consumers.

Fat is an essential part of the human diet, supplying nutritional components that the body needs in order to function. Too much fat in the diet, especially of nutritionally undesirable forms, can give rise to health problems. Hence, fat is subject to labelling requirements on food products and analyses are targeted towards this compliance. With regard to labelling compliance, Fapas quality controls ask for fat results to be submitted as g/100g of the sample, not of the total fat.

To maintain this accurate testing required, Fapas quality controls should be used as part of a well-designed quality assurance programme, to highlight any areas of improvement required within your current testing arrangement. Fapas quality controls can also help highlight areas of unconscious bias within your testing arrangement, from which to address and obtain accurate, repeatable results.
