Test Description

The EU Food Information for Consumers Regulation No.1169/2011 lists 14 food allergens that must always be labelled in pre-packed and non-prepacked foods.  This quality control material is a contamination test sample (presence/absence) for a large number of tree nuts and peanut which appear in the allergen list.

Nuts are a well-known allergen and as such are subject to regulatory controls. These regulations challenge laboratories to accurately detect and quantify levels of a number of different nut species.

Nut detection requires testing labs to be flexible within their testing processes, which can pose a challenge to finding repeatable, credible results. Fapas quality control materials can be utilised to standardise testing practices to achieve improved credibility, as well as verify methods to remove any bias associated with your test results.

Chocolate is consumed in large quantities worldwide. As such the food testing associated is of large financial importance to many laboratories across the globe. Proficiency testing can provide a means to maintain the high quality testing needed to set your testing laboratories apart within a highly competitive industry.

It is important that consumers with food allergies or intolerances are able to make informed choices when choosing products. By using this test material you are ensuring an independent verification of your testing procedures to comply with regulation.
