Test Description

Cereal-based baby foods are widely consumed and often viewed as a safe, nutricious part of weaning to solid foods, and so it is important to detect any contaminated material in order to minimise the risk to these vulnerable consumers.

Pesticides are used extensively across the globe in order to improve yields, but must be used properly to reduce any residues on the final crop. Most countries now have an extensive monitoring scheme for pesticide residues written into their legislation.

There are more than 1000 compounds used worldwide as pesticides or plant protection products. When used properly, according to good agricultural practice, any residues can be expected to be below maximum residue limits. The Fapas pesticide residues proficiency tests are based on the EU monitoring list and associated MRLs but are widely applicable to most geographic areas.

Quality control materials from Fapas make use of real food samples to provide direct comparisons with your routine testing arrangement. From this, quality control activities such as staff training and instrumentation verification can be conducted. This can allow you to reduce any potential bias within your testing arrangement, leading to highly credible, repeatable results.
