Test Description

Tetracyclines are an antibiotic used to maintain healthy livestock and therefore high-quality pork. EU maximum residue limits (MRLs) are tightly regulated to protect consumers from excessive human consumption of tetracyclines within foodstuffs.

Tetracyclines are seen more in farmed livestock as consumer demand continues to remain high, resulting in significant challenges for global supply chains to meet this demand. The quantity of tetracyclines can increase within pig muscle if antibiotics are not used as part of good farming practices.

Pork accounts for a large amount of meat consumed globally, as such it can be difficult to ensure only high-quality, safe produce is offered to the consumer. Your effective testing measures are therefore important to ensure the safety of a range of consumers.

The Fapas proficiency test (PT) materials are produced in line with EU MRLs or minimum required performance limit (MRPL) where MRLs are not set. The result reporting requirements are also in keeping with quality control guidelines laid out in EC/657/2002.

Fapas veterinary medicine PT materials include incurred residues as well as fortified animal products. The PTs are grouped in analytical chemical class/matrix combinations and combine identification and quantification. The PTs are suitable for all methods, including screening methods (for the detection of total amount of that chemical class).

Blank materials from Fapas make use of real food matrices to provide the key insights into your routine testing abilities you require. These can be used to maintain the level of accuracy required to satisfy both your customers and regulators of your testing capabilities.
