Aciduric Bacteria, Yeasts, Moulds
Aciduric Bacteria, Yeasts and Moulds in Soft Drink is not currently within scope of accreditation to ISO 17043.
This proficiency test brings together the three essential tests for the quality of soft drinks in one product to represent as much as possible a realistic sample for the laboratories. This product reflects the real-life laboratory practice of performing multiple tests on a single sample and provides excellent value for money. Many soft drink products are highly resistant to spoilage by microorganisms due to their highly acidic (pH less than 4) nature and high CO2 content in the case of carbonated beverages. They may also contain high levels of sugar, reducing the water activity of the product. However, the nutrition content in soft drinks may allow acid tolerant bacteria such as lactic acid and aciduric bacteria, and yeasts and moulds survive and spoil the final product.
This is enumeration proficiency test with more than one target organism. The number of tests performed on the sample is the participant’s choice, as are the methods to be used, but the results must be reported as cfu/ml.
This product is suitable for routine laboratory performance checks as well as verification of standard methods or validation of a new laboratory method.
