Test Description

This proficiency test evaluates your testing ability for Alcoholic strength (real and apparent, i.e. direct and indirect measurement), alcohol congeners from by-products.

This proficiency test includes analytes which are under regulatory control and those which define the type and quality of the whisky. Different types of whisky are emulated in the rounds covering regional and quality differences.

Whisky is by definition an alcoholic beverage, the different levels are direct indicators of the designed qualities of whisky, including taste. Due to the fairly high price-point of whisky when compared to other alcoholic beverages, it is important to ensure that all designed qualities are correct. To ensure manufacturers achieve their desired whisky characteristics during production effective testing processes must be utilised.

To maintain these high quality testing abilities proficiency testing, as part of a wider quality assurance programme, should be utilised. By highlighting any areas of improvement within your testing ability you can define your next actionable steps to mitigate any impact poor quality testing may have on your wider testing arrangement. Fapas proficiency tests make use of real food matrices to provide the direct comparisons you need to safeguard your entire routine testing practices across your lab.
