Test Description

Bisphenol A (BPA) is used in the manufacture of plastics and epoxy resins, and as a result of our industrial use of these chemicals, resdiues can be found in waters which are used as a source of drinking water. In 2015 the EU reduced the tolerable daily intake (TDI) for BPA from 50 to 4ug/kg bodyweight. This is mainly due to concern over BPA's potential role as an endocrine disruptor, and while drinking water is considered to contribute only a small amount of the daily intake of BPA, it is still important to ensure accurate measurement to ensure higher levels are not being missed. The risk of BPA will be reevaluated and a new assessment is expected to be published (2022)
